Early Day Motions should be reformed, not scrapped...

...is the title of a blog post that I have done as a guest post today for the "Scrap Early Day Motions" website and the editor (Jonathan Sheppard of Tory Radio) has kindly published to give an alternative viewpoint to the campaign he started recently.

Thanks for the guest post Mark. Much appreciated, as I think this campaign ius very much apolitical as opposed to being a party political thing.

I will of course post some comments in response to your very thoughtful piece.

The worth of the EDM system ought to have been apparent to those seeking its abolition well before now and it must be hoped that your call for reformation enlightens them.

Why are they so fussed anyway? Is this not a matter principally for parliamentarians to sort out? There is much wrong with Parliament in terms of the effectiveness of MPs at scrutinizing legislation and holding the Government to account: EDMs are so much trivial detail in comparison surely?
